Our History

Two Generations of Craftsmanship

Founded in 1965 by Al Dompierre as a small carpentry business in Farmington, Michigan. What started with kitchen cabinet installations has grown into one of the region's most respected full-service renovation companies.

Joe Dompierre represents the second generation leading the company, bringing decades of hands-on construction experience and a commitment to the same values that built our reputation: honest pricing, superior craftsmanship, and treating your home like our own.

Referrals have been the heart of our business since Al Dompierre started the company. A.J. Dompierre Construction performs all phases of home improvement — from custom kitchens and baths to additions and decks. We offer a timely response, reliable service, quality products, honesty, integrity, and the utmost attention to detail with a sincere commitment to our customers.

Helpful Advice

Tips for Hiring a Contractor

Before making a decision on your next project, here are some important things to consider.

1

Verify the contractor is properly licensed with the State of Michigan. You can check license status and complaints at michigan.gov/lara.

2

Request current copies of workers' compensation and general liability insurance certificates.

3

Contact your local building department to inquire about the company's track record.

4

Ask around — neighbors, friends, church, and work associates. A referral from people in the community is the best reference.

5

Check the contractor's rating with the Better Business Bureau.

6

Make sure contracts are clear and detailed. Never sign blank forms or proposals. You should understand completely what you're getting for your money.
